The metric of information value within the Twitter Network is the ReTweet. Meaning doesn’t matter. To the network, there is no measurable difference between a post on an an iPhone farting application and a post on an approaching hurricane. Since Tweets are viewed through a temporal window, the cost of viewing a Tweet increases over time. Older posts require more energy to access (next-page clicks) until they become virtually invisible.
