A Better Way to Gauge Your Twitter Value

It’s been hard for me to figure out whether my posts on Twitter are generally of value to those who follow me. Retweets and replies are nice, but even on a good day I don’t see a @daveelf reference from the vast majority of people on my stream. Feedly came to the rescue a couple of weeks ago with their new karma feature.

I’m a feed fanatic and follow over 1000 sources. Feedly is by far the best feed reader I’ve found, with a bevy of built-in features that make social sharing no more than a click away, even when I’m browsing a web page outside of feedly.

The recently added “karma” tracks click-throughs on each link you share. So although the tweet listed below only got two RTs, the link was hit twenty-eight times. That’s about ten percent of my followers, which would be a great CTR on a Google Adwords link.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could track how often we respond in some way to posts from the people we follow. It would be great to have stats on clicks/replies/RTs per post, per person. We could easily see who isn’t on our wavelength and unclutter our streams.
